5-7-05 Special Folks & Relay for Life

I walk this year to honor this lady. She's been the true essence of "neighbor" for 30+ years. A living saint shouldn't be battling cancer. Joe Ann, on behalf of all the babies you've ushered into the world, this one's for you.

I love you, Jennifer Dawson

Welcome to my Relay For Life page! I'm the team captain at Lost Mountain Middle School. This is my fifth year teaching & fifth year to relay. I do this because I've known so many people throughout my life affected by or lost to cancer. It makes me sick that the number increases each year.

I choose this avenue to seek an end to ALL cancer for ALL people from the very youngest to the memory of one of the very oldest I've known (my "Pop" died 10 years ago). Just this week I was checking the website of a former student battling cancer and stumbled upon a 2 & 1/2 year old in the fight of her life with a brain tumor. That little girl is the daughter of one of my very close friends from college - that I haven't seen since his wedding in 1999. We're talking one of the people I was with when "Sid slid" to send the Braves to the Series....a close friend indeed. Last month I went to the funeral of a mother who asked me at the end of last year to see that her son could be at Relay if she couldn't beat ovarian cancer. Thanks for any support you can offer.

This list isn't exhaustive - there are too many to count - but SOME of my personal reasons are:

***In Memory: Aunt Blanche,
Pop, Aunt May, Gene, Roslyn’s mom, Lee’s mom

***In Honor: Joe Ann, students (Tyler, Hannah, Mark), Aunt Bert, Connie, Aunt Hazel, at least five current colleagues
