Review of Area voting in Congressional and State Senate Races – 2008

In the 10th District Congressional and State Senator District 46 races, area voters continued their pattern of voting Republican in overwhelming numbers.
.
Since the election, Congressman Broun has caught some flack about some of his statements about the President-Elect’s policies and propensities. I was not surprised because I knew Congressman Broun was very conservative. In fact, we endorsed his opponents in the primary elections.
.
Athens-Clarke and the Athens Banner-Herald angst will not defeat Congressman Broun. He was ‘defeated’ in the “State of Clarke County” this year. Area support will remain loyal to Congressman Broun unless by some chance Barack Obama can fulfill a significant portion of his promises and excessive expectations.
