Trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto Canada – Toronto & Casa Lomo – Part 3

On October 15, 2009, we went to Toronto Canada and toured the city and visited Casa Lomo.Toronto is an impressive City with over 4 Million folks.   It has less traffic than Atlanta because of high-rise condos, subways, commuter rail, street cars and few automobiles.Toronto has many colleges and hospitals.   We saw many young people and bicycles.It is a clean and impressive city.

Toronto has a large population of 4 Million plus and much diversity of people.   They are

very integrated.   There is a large Chinese population and a “China Town”

CASA LOMO

We visited a large castle in Toronto with approximately 97 rooms.It was built by an industrialist who lost

his fortune after 11 years and had to leave the castle.   Casa Loma is owned by the City of Toronto and

has been operated by the Kiwanis Club of Casa Loma since 1937.   It is rented for High School proms,

reunions, weddings, receptions etc.

Casa Loma is the former estate of Sir Henry Mill Pellatt, a prominent Toronto financier, industrialist and military man. An unabashed romantic, Sir Henry engaged the noted architect E.J. Lennox to help him realize a life-long dream - the creation of a 'medieval' castle on the brow of a hill overlooking Toronto. Begun in 1911, it took 300 men nearly 3 years to complete and cost $ 3,500,000 at that time. Sir Henry enjoyed Casa Loma for less than 10 years before financial misfortune forced him to abandon his castle home. We hope you enjoy this intriguing legacy of an extraordinary Canadian.

Casa Loma is owned by the City of Toronto and has been operated by the Kiwanis Club of Casa Loma since 1937.
