On October 16, we loaded up early and left Canada for Georgia.   There was much to see as we traveled back through New York State, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina and North Georgia.   We saw Snow and pretty colorful leaves.

.

We stopped in Erie, Pennsylvania, and toured the Maritime Museum.   We enjoyed a tour of the restored

Battleship Niagara which played a prominent role in the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812.   The

battle is most famous for a saying by the Commander of the American Fleet as quoted in the following:

.

“……Perry transferred by boat to the undamaged Niagara, sailed her into close action, broke the British battle line, and forced Barclay to surrender. In the aftermath, Commodore Perry wrote his famous report to General William Henry Harrison: " We have met the enemy and they are ours: two ships, two brigs, one schooner, and one sloop."………….

We arrived back at Bell’s Parking lot at Butler’s Crossing around 8:00 PM on Saturday, October, 16,

2009.   Many of us were met by family and friends.   We were tired but had a very enjoyable and exciting

trip.   We had made a lot of great memories and pictures to show for it!
