America, We have a problem! Obama!

.

By Wendell Dawson, Editor, AVOC, Inc

.

Obama shows anger and his thin skin more frequently now

.

Like many conservatives, I have had reservations about Barack Obama since before he was elected.   He was young with little track record.   He could talk well but the substance was lacking.   Obama bashed George W. Bush from his campaign until now, after a year and half in office.   George W. Bush has kept quiet and showed real class.

.

Many of Obama’s policies have been troubling: Take- Over of General Motors; Take -Over of Banks; Take-Over of the Health Care System; and now the Oil and Energy industry.   As with many citizens, I am disappointed at the little resistance that Obama has encountered with some of his extra constitutional actions.   Some folks fear his Change in our Nation may become irreversible.

.

The Gulf Oil Spill has exposed a lack of inspiring leadership and the futility of his constant finger-pointing.    Hopefully, enough voters are concerned to vote the Democratic Majority out this fall. The Complicity of the Democratic Congress in the Obama policies is reprehensible.    The Congress is not respected anymore.   Their hearings are little more than political theatre and a lot of ‘Hot Air”.

.

Some say Obama is incompetent, naïve and inexperienced.  Others say he is very smart and has a secret agenda to nationalize many of our industries and facilities.   He caters to labor unions and is spending too much, risking national bankruptcy.

.

The Tide of public opinion is turning against Obama.   The Gulf Oil Spill has revealed his impotency as a leader.    More and more media outlets are printing more than just cheerleading articles.   For months, the comments at the end of articles online from media, have been lopsidedly anti-Obama.

.

In spite of the polls and resistance to his “Change”, he keeps pushing.  However, Congress is starting to show some Push Back.   That is what we need.

.

I never thought I would ever support Joe Biden for President.   However, he is looking much better than what we have now.   The country may not be able to afford Obama for 2 ½ more years.

The Gulf Spill - Everyone’s Dirty Now – Larry Kudlow – 6.18.10
BP, the White House, and Congress can now all share in the blame.

http://article.nationalreview.com/436759/the-gulf-spill-everyones-dirty-now/larry-kudlow

..Amidst all the political jockeying over the BP catastrophe, the main players are missing what is really uppermost on America’s mind: It’s the spill rate, stupid. It’s jobs, stupid. It’s the economy, stupid. Miss, miss, miss.
All eyes in Washington, Wall Street, and Main Street were turned this week to the congressional show trial featuring beleaguered BP CEO Tony Hayward. Hayward was a disaster. He played dumb. He stonewalled. And he never got honest about the colossal failure of human judgment at BP that caused this catastrophe.

…But folks, seriously, what did you expect? Before this thing is said and done, Hayward and others at BP may very well be criminally indicted by the Justice Department. Hayward could eventually do hard time for all I know. So, of course, he stonewalled. Thank Eric Holder……

A Snakebit President – Noonan WSJ – 6.18.10

http://www.usnews.com/articles/opinion/2010/06/18/mort-zuckerman-world-sees-obama-as-incompetent-and-amateur.html

….The reviews of Obama's performance have been disappointing. He has seemed uncomfortable in the role of leading other nations, and often seems to suggest there is nothing special about America's role in the world. The global community was puzzled over the pictures of Obama bowing to some of the world's leaders and surprised by his gratuitous criticisms of and apologies for America's foreign policy under the previous administration of George W. Bush. One Middle East authority, Fouad Ajami, pointed out that Obama seems unaware that it is bad form and even a great moral lapse to speak ill of one's own tribe while in the lands of others……..

Will Obama Be the 'Jimmy Carter of the 21st Century'? Der Spiegel – Berlin -6.17.10

http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,701279,00.html

….Can US President Barack Obama lead America away from fossil fuel dependency? German commentators don't think so. Some say he is in danger of turning into an idealistic, one-term president like Jimmy Carter.

US President Barack Obama's address from the Oval Office on Tuesday was supposed to be a moment of leadership during the worst environmental disaster in American history. But critics from across the political spectrum wondered afterwards whether he'd shown leadership at all. The geyser of oil in the Gulf of Mexico seems, technologically, to lie beyond anything either BP or the US government was prepared for, and Obama failed to mention any specific new ideas………

$ 7-a-gallon gas? 6-18-10 NY Post

The folly of O's oil-spill 'fix'

…….Oil-spill risks should be addressed directly -- such as finding out why the leak occurred and requiring new preventive measures or preparing an improved cleanup plan for the next incident. Cap-and-trade is no fix and would cause trillions of dollars in collateral economic damage along the way.

Emanuel was wrong. The administration shouldn't view each crisis -- including the oil spill -- as an opportunity to be exploited, but as a problem to be addressed. And America can't afford $-a-gallon gas.

The Senate on Wednesday rejected a $ 140 billion taxes and spending package in a resounding defeat for President Obama and Democratic leaders that signaled the era of freewheeling stimulus spending is giving way to greater concern for deficits.

Dreamer in Chief

Vision is Obama’s thing. It sure beats cleaning up beaches….

Pres. Barack Obama doesn’t do the mundane. He was sent to us to do larger things. You could see that plainly in his Oval Office address on the Gulf oil spill. He could barely get himself through the pedestrian first half: a bit of BP-bashing, a bit of faux-Clintonian “I feel your pain,” a bit of recovery and economic-mitigation accounting. It wasn’t until the end of the speech — the let-no-crisis-go-to-waste part that tried to leverage the Gulf Coast devastation to advance his cap-and-trade climate-change agenda — that Obama warmed to his task.
………………..Obama is dreamer in chief: He wants to take us to this green future “even if we’re unsure exactly what that looks like. Even if we don’t yet precisely know how we’re going to get there.” Here’s the offer: Tax carbon, spend trillions, and put government in control of the energy economy — and he will take you he knows not where, by way of a road he knows not which.
.   That’s why Tuesday’s speech was received with such consternation. It was so untethered from reality. The Gulf is gushing, and the president is talking mystery roads to unknown destinations. That passes for vision, and vision is Obama’s thing. It sure beats cleaning up beaches.

The Great Disenchantment

Rich Lowery 6-18-10

http://article.nationalreview.com/436669/the-great-disenchantment/rich-lowry

……He promised to heal the planet and turn back the tide of rising oceans, and liberals believed him. So, when a mere 35,000–60,000 barrels of oil a day gushing from the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico produced a crisis beyond his control, they lashed out in frustration.

…….Welcome to soggy reality. The great liberal disenchantment is the realization that it’s beyond Obama’s powers to turn back an oil spill, let along the tides. He’s just a president, and not even a particularly good one.

Gingrich: Obama's Approach to Gulf Spill Made Disaster Worse 6-18-10
The Obama administration has consistently failed in its handling of the BP oil disaster, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich tells Newsmax…..

…..“There are two different problems,” Gingrich says. “The first is how you cap the well to keep the oil from coming out, and the other problem is how do you gather up the oil to get it out of the water before it reaches the shore?
….
“The Obama administration has so far failed on both of those counts, and we have evidence that foreign governments were prepared to give substantial support and either found no response or a very slow response from the Obama administration.”……….

BP Oil Spill- Against Gov. Jindal's Wishes, Crude-Sucking Barges Stopped by Coast Guard

59 Days Into Oil Crisis, Gulf Coast Governors Say Feds Are Failing Them

….Coast Guard Orders Barges to Stop

So why stop now?

"The Coast Guard came and shut them down," Jindal said. "You got men on the barges in the oil, and they have been told by the Coast Guard, 'Cease and desist. Stop sucking up that oil.'"

A Coast Guard representative told ABC News today that it shares the same goal as the governor.

"We are all in this together. The enemy is the oil," said Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Dan Lauer.

But the Coast Guard ordered the stoppage because of reasons that Jindal found frustrating. The Coast Guard needed to confirm that there were fire extinguishers and life vests on board, and then it had trouble contacting the people who built the barges.

Louisiana Governor Couldn't Overrule Coast Guard

The governor said he didn't have the authority to overrule the Coast Guard's decision, though he said he tried to reach the White House to raise his concerns.

"They promised us they were going to get it done as quickly as possible," he said. But "every time you talk to someone different at the Coast Guard, you get a different answer." ……

President Obama is now reacting to the BP oil mess in precisely the way he said he didn't need to.

…..The White House is beginning to realize that the political fallout of the oil spill is very real -- and holding office for a year and a half makes it harder to blame the previous administration for evident shortcomings.

Just as the president and his top aides didn't fully grasp the scale of environmental fallout, they didn't comprehend the degree to which the response to the incident has evolved into a test of presidential leadership.

The distance between the president and the people is beginning to be revealed.

….The deepening notes of disenchantment with Barack Obama now issuing from commentators across the political spectrum were predictable. So, too, were the charges from some of the president's earliest enthusiasts about his failure to reflect a powerful sense of urgency about the oil spill.

……There should have been nothing puzzling about his response to anyone who has paid even modest critical attention to Mr. Obama's pronouncements. For it was clear from the first that this president—single-minded, ever-visible, confident in his program for a reformed America saved from darkness by his arrival—was wanting in certain qualities citizens have until now taken for granted in their presidents.

….It is no surprise that Mr. Posner—like numerous of his kind—has found a natural home in this administration. His is a sensibility and political disposition with which Mr. Obama is at home. The beliefs and attitudes that this president has internalized are to be found everywhere—in the salons of the left the world over—and, above all, in the academic establishment, stuffed with tenured radicals and their political progeny. The places where it is held as revealed truth that the United States is now, and has been throughout its history, the chief engine of injustice and oppression in the world.

They are attitudes to be found everywhere, but never before in a president of the United States. Mr. Obama may not hold all, or the more extreme, of these views. But there can be no doubt by now of the influences that have shaped him. They account for his grand apology tour through the capitals of Europe and to the Muslim world, during which he decried America's moral failures—her arrogance, insensitivity.        …..They were the words of a man to whom reasons for American guilt came naturally. Americans were shocked by this behavior in their newly elected president. But he was telling them something from those lecterns in foreign lands—something about his distant relation to the country he was about to lead.

The truth about that distance is now sinking in, which is all to the good. A country governed by leaders too principled to speak the name of its mortal enemy needs every infusion of reality it can get.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/barackobama/7815713/Barack-Obamas-attacks-on-BP-hurting-British-pensioners.html

.City investors said the president was jeopardising the pensions of millions with his "excessive" criticism of the energy company following the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

…Before the accident on April 20, BP was Britain's biggest company, with a stock market value of £122 billion. Since then, £49 billion has been wiped off its value.

…Those fears have been heightened by Mr Obama's increasingly aggressive rhetoric towards BP, which some investors see as an attempt to deflect criticism of his own handling of the crisis.

Spill reveals Obama's lack of executive experience – Byron York - 6.8.10

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Spill-reveals-Obama_s-lack-of-executive-experience-95819074.html

….state officials in Louisiana tried over and over to win federal permission to build sand barriers to protect fragile coastal wetlands from the oil, they got nowhere. "For three weeks, as the giant slick crept closer to shore," the Times reports, "officials from the White House, Coast Guard, Army Corps of Engineers, Fish and Wildlife Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Environmental Protection Agency debated the best approach."

The bureaucracy wasn't bending to anyone's will. The direction from the top was not clear. And accountability? So far, the only head that has rolled during the Gulf crisis has been that of Minerals Management Service chief Elizabeth Birnbaum. But during a May 27 news conference, Obama admitted he didn't even know whether she had resigned or been fired. "I found out about it this morning, so I don't yet know the circumstances," the president said. "And [Interior Secretary] Ken Salazar's been in testimony on the Hill." Obama's answer revealed that he hadn't fired Birnbaum, and he couldn't reach a member of his Cabinet who was a few blocks down Pennsylvania Avenue.

Given all that, perhaps candidates in future presidential races will think twice before arguing that running their campaign counts as executive experience.

Obama loses the Left: suddenly, it's cool to bash Barack – London Telegraph – 6.6.10

….. The problem for the President is that even if the former Beatle does speak for billions, the overwhelming majority of those are overseas. Polls show that around 10 per cent of those who voted for Obama in 2008 now disapprove of his performance and the heavy turnout of young people and black voters among the 69 million who back him will not be repeated again.

McCartney's banalities were an example of a transatlantic dissonance that is all too apparent these days. Whereas Europe is stuck in November 2008 and still hopelessly in love with Obama, Americans have got over the historic symbolism of it all and are now moving on as they live with the reality.

That reality has now begun to dawn on some of Obama's natural constituency - Hollywood and the Left. The "no drama Obama" demeanour that served him so well on the campaign trail is now becoming a liability. …….
