Charles Ivie is right choice for Mayor of Watkinsville

I have known Charles Ivie since High School.   He and my wife are second cousins.   Our daughters attended school together.   Charles has lived in the City of Watkinsville for over 40 years.Charles and his wife, Carol, have been very involved in civic and community affairs for a long time.   Charles Ivie is the right choice for Mayor of Watkinsville in the November 8, 2011, election.

Charles served on the city council in the 70’s.   I was City Attorney for 18 years and our city service overlapped.   We have interacted a lot over many years in local affairs as well as school, community, church and family circles.   Charles has maintained a continuing interest in the city and our local community.

.

For sometime, I have been concerned that local officials are not always grounded in local history.   Building and moving courthouses, libraries etc need more involvement of the impact on our county seat.  A better knowledge of community history will be beneficial in such decisions.   Charles can bring a lifetime of knowledge of the area’s history to the job as Mayor.
