3-30-12 The Fat Lady has Sung! Gingrich and Santorum didn’t listen

(Marco Rubio) …saying Romney offers "a very clear alternative" to President Obama's vision for the future of the country. Rubio, a young, first-termer who has been discussed as a possible vice presidential candidate, criticized talk of a fight for the Republican nomination on the convention floor, a possibility that is keeping alive the campaigns of Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich. "I think that's a recipe for delivering four more years of Barack Obama," Rubio told Fox News' Sean Hannity.

Gingrich and Santorum need to listen –The Fat Lady has Sung!

Russia’s Pravada and Joe Biden are attacking Romney now and thus acknowledging that he will be the GOP nominee.    Even the Obama Media seems to be recognizing the reality of the GOP race.

.

Gov. Mitt Romney

.

It is very obvious that Obama and his supporters as well as Russian Leaders think that Romney is the nominee.   They are pounding on him.   I think he can handle it if he can get by the nuisances of Gingrich and Santorum.    Most folks have reached that conclusion.   Most think that Gingrich and Santorum are delusional in their campaigns and have no chance of being nominated.   They are just helping Obama and the Democrats.   Neither one should have any future with the Republican Party.

Mitt Romney trotted out a pair of big-name GOP endorsements Thursday to urge Republicans to close ranks around him — but his main rivals refuse to abandon their own White House dreams.

Romney received the blessing of powerful Republicans past — former President George H.W. Bush — and present - popular Florida Senator Marco Rubio — in a 24-hour span, further signaling that the GOP establishment wants the grueling primary process to end.

Romney even met with opponent Newt Gingrich over the weekend in New Orleans to ask for his support, but no deal was brokered, advisors to both men told NBC News……

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., endorsed Mitt Romney for president Wednesday night on Fox News' "Hannity," saying Romney offers "a very clear alternative" to President Obama's vision for the future of the country.

Romney has "earned this nomination," Rubio said, though he again shot down questions about whether he would accept any offers of a spot on the ticket.

"I don't believe I'm going to be asked to be the vice presidential nominee," he said, adding it's not something he wants.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A few weeks before the Republican primary in Florida in January, the billionaire owner of the NFL's Miami Dolphins hosted a fundraiser for Mitt Romney at his oceanfront home in Palm Beach. …..

….Bobbie Kilberg, chief executive officer of the Northern Virginia Technology Council in suburban Washington, helped collect more than $ 2.2 million and said she is "profoundly proud to be identified as a person who raises money for Mitt Romney."

Kilberg said she has worked with a team of Romney supporters who have held a series of fundraisers for him, including a June 29 event at the Ritz Carlton in Northern Virginia, which brought in nearly $ 350,000. An Oct. 25 gathering at her home in McLean, Va., raised $ 356,000. That was followed by another fundraiser that collected more than $ 1.5 million……...

Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson says Newt Gingrich is at the end of his line as far as receiving big money donations to his Super PAC.
"I like him. We're friendly. But I got to tell you something, I don’t want him running my country," Adelson said of Rick Santorum.

Newt Gingrich likes to say he shouldn't be counted out of the GOP presidential race because he has bounced back before from low standings in public opinion polls.

But the latest national poll from Gallup shows the former House speaker has hit a new low: He has 10% support among registered Republicans.

It also marks the first time this year that Gingrich is behind Ron Paul, who has 11% support in the daily tracking poll. Gingrich was behind the Texas congressman from July to October last year.

Gingrich reached a high of 37% in mid-December in the Gallup survey………….

Biden Attacks Romney on Taxes, Outsourcing –WSJ Blog-3.28.12

 http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2012/03/28/biden-attacks-romney-on-taxes-outsourcing/

Vice President Joe Biden stepped up the Obama administration’s attacks on Mitt Romney over taxes and outsourcing.

In a campaign appearance in Davenport, Iowa, on Wednesday, Mr. Biden first accused Mr. Romney of shipping factories offshore as CEO of Bain Capital, and then offshoring government services as governor of Massachusetts.

………..The Romney camp struck back, accusing the Obama administration of trying to divert attention from its poor overall economic record.

“Vice President Biden is part of an administration that has done more to devastate the middle class than any in modern history,” said Amanda Henneberg, a Romney spokeswoman. “Under President Obama’s leadership, over 800,000 fewer Americans have a job, home prices have plummeted, and gas prices have hit record highs. With that kind of record, it’s no surprise that the Obama White House has taken to attacking a proven job creator like Mitt Romney.”….

Pravda is hitting Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney over comments he made about Russia. "Russia is the geopolitical foe," Romney said earlier this week in response to President Obama telling his Russian counterpart to give him "space" so that he could have "more flexibility" after the 2012 presidential election.

So, in an op-ed today posted on Pravda's website, the infamous former Soviet newspaper writes, "Electing Mitt Romney as the next President of the United States of America would be like appointing a serial paedophile as a kindergarten teacher, a rapist as a janitor at a girls' dormitory or a psychopath with a fixation on knives as a kitchen hand. His comments on Russia are a puerile attempt at making the grand stage and boy, did he blow it..."

Pravda goes on to question American democracy and say that Romney is just an "adolescent" school boy:……………..

Victory Out of Reach, Will Gingrich Damage His Party and Legacy? – Natl Journal – 3.28.12

    http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics/victory-out-of-reach-will-gingrich-damage-his-party-and-legacy--20120328?page=1&mrefid=freehplead_1

As his campaign winds down, the big questions hanging over Newt Gingrich’s run for president are why he’s so determined to keep at it, and whether he will tarnish his legacy or hurt the Republican Party in the process.

Gingrich still has a chance to bow out of the race gracefully before the August convention, redirecting his rhetorical fire from GOP front-runner Mitt Romney and focusing instead on President Obama.

But a continued jeremiad against the likely Republican nominee, including an insistence on taking his campaign to the convention, will tarnish Gingrich’s legacy, some GOP figures say. To them, Gingrich's determination to stick around in hopes of claiming the nomination at a contested convention is another in a string of recent signals that he is headed for an ignominious exit.

“The strategy and tactics are obvious and sad, frankly,” said Rich Galen, a former Gingrich aide in the 1990s who has been critical of his presidential campaign. “They don’t make any sense outside the reality-distortion field of Newt Gingrich.

“It’s kind of, he’s reduced to Buddy Roemer status almost,” Galen added, referring to the long-shot candidacy of the former Louisiana governor. “Why would you do this and go from object of admiration to an object of pity, which I think is the danger.”

Gingrich has said he plans to promote ideas and refrain from criticizing his rivals. But such vows haven't lasted long in earlier phases of the campaign. And even if he sticks to attacking Obama, his penchant for controversial rhetoric could prove damaging to him and his party.

That appeared to already happen last week, when Gingrich drew widespread criticism after going after Obama on a pair of touchy subjects.

At a campaign stop in Louisiana, Gingrich said the misperception that Obama is a Muslim is at least partly the president’s own fault. “Why does the president behave the way that people would think that?” he asked. “You have to ask, why would they believe that? It's not because they're stupid.”…..

Romney holds double-digit lead in Wisconsin –Wash Times – 3.23.12

http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/inside-politics/2012/mar/23/romney-holds-double-digit-lead-wisconsin/

…..new poll shows GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney has double-digit lead over Rick Santorum heading into the Wisconsin primary early next month.

A Rasmussen Reports survey released Wednesday shows the former Massachusetts governor winning over 46 percent of likely Republican voters in the state, while Mr. Santorum, former senator from Pennsylvania, receives 33 percent. Texas Rep. Ron Paul receives 8 percent and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich brings up the rear with 7 percent.

The next stop in the Republican nomination race comes Saturday in Louisiana, where the latest polls show Mr. Santorum sitting atop a comfortable lead.

Mr. Santorum has repeatedly outperformed Mr. Romney in states where evangelicals Christians make up half of the electorate. In the Louisiana primary in 2008, nearly 6 in 10 voters identified themselves as or expressed sympathy for evangelicals.

The good news for Mr. Santorum, though, is undercut by the fact that the state's 46 delegates will be awarded on a proportional basis, diminishing his ability to make up a lot of ground of Mr. Romney in the race for the 1,144 delegates needed…………..

Jeb Bush Endorses Mitt Romney in GOP Primary –ABC News- 3.21.12

  http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/03/jeb-bush-endorses-mitt-romney-in-gop-primary/

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush endorsed Mitt Romney after Romney’s lopsided win in Illinois Tuesday night. The former Florida Governor – a Republican heavyweight – called on members of the party to coalesce behind Romney.

“Congratulations to Governor Mitt Romney on his win last night and to all the candidates for a hard fought, thoughtful debate and primary season,” said Bush in a statement. “Primary elections have been held in thirty-four states, and now is the time for Republicans to unite behind Governor Romney and take our message of fiscal conservatism and job creation to all voters this fall.  I am endorsing Mitt Romney for our Party’s nomination.  We face huge challenges, and we need a leader who understands the economy, recognizes more government regulation is not the answer, believes in entrepreneurial capitalism and works to ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed.”……….
